The program “Disability-Inclusive Health Initiatives: Design Targeted Interventions to Include Youth with Disabilities in Health Reform Activities)” was held at the UYP Dhaka office on October 06, 2025.
The event was chaired by Project Manager Md. Abu Raihan, who formally inaugurated the workshop with a welcome speech.
Youth Officer Zubayda Anjum Saba presented the workshop’s objectives, activities, and expected outcomes through a PowerPoint presentation. The Chief Guest was Dr. Ainun Nahar, Professor of Anthropology at Jahangirnagar University.
Professor Ainun Nahar began the session with a heartfelt introductory segment, encouraging participants to identify their “own strengths and weaknesses,” which immediately built confidence and mutual understanding among the attendees.
Following the introduction, Professor Nahar conducted two interactive sessions on Women’s Empowerment and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). During this approximately three-hour session, the young participants with disabilities, particularly women, shared their experiences regarding health rights, leadership, and social inclusion. The overall organization of the session was lively, participatory, and knowledge-rich.
At the end of the event, participants shared their views on how they would contribute to raising SRHR awareness in their respective communities.
