Special Guest:
Ms. Khandakar Farzana Zaman, Family Welfare Inspector, Mother & Child Welfare Center, Rangpur.
The workshop included three segments – “Awareness through Play,” “We: Pioneers of Change,” and “Knowing & Asking.” These activities aimed to raise awareness among participants on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Youth participants were also encouraged to play an active role in improving health and SRHR awareness in their own communities. They expressed their commitment and optimism to work with RHStep– (UYP Project), Rangpur, to improve the health situation in their respective areas.
Through group work, participants highlighted existing health challenges in their local areas and discussed possible solutions along with their potential roles as community representatives. Later, community-based monitoring teams were formed with participants from different localities.
During her speech, Ms. Khandakar Farzana Zaman said:
“Today’s event organized by Unstoppable Youth is highly significant. It is essential to have proper understanding of adolescence, child marriage, cervical cancer, HPV vaccination, menstrual health, and maternal and child care. While we have progressed in some areas with time, advancing health awareness and overcoming shame and hesitation are very important.”
She further elaborated on these issues in detail and responded to the participants’ questions.
After Mr. Animesh Roy, said:
“The spontaneous and lively participation of youth in today’s workshop makes us very hopeful. With their energy and enthusiasm, it is possible to build an inclusive, universal, and discrimination-free health sector in Bangladesh. We will continue to work more closely with the newly formed community-based youth teams to improve health and SRHR in their respective areas.”
At the closing session, participants received sanitary pads as a token of awareness on SRHR.
